Case Studies
What I found, what I did about it, and what changed
LSK Construction — construction & building services
What I found
- Every page title was cut off mid-word, none mentioning Telford or Shropshire — the homepage title still had “HOME.2” tacked on from a duplicated page
- 22 pages had no meta description, so Google filled the gap with random text pulled from the page
- Three live, indexed versions of the homepage were splitting its ranking strength three ways
- 17 URLs still carried “copy-of-” from how Wix handles page duplication
- 5 pages had no heading at all, and 7 more had one too vague to mean anything — one service page’s heading was just “Architectural”
- The services and projects pages — arguably the two most important on the site — were under 100 words each
What I recommended
- Rewrite all 24 titles under 60 characters, each naming the actual service and location
- Write the missing descriptions and trim the long ones, so Google shows real copy instead of random fragments
- Keep one homepage live, redirect the other two so ranking strength isn’t split anymore
- Fix every “copy-of-” URL and set up its redirect at the same time, so nothing already ranking gets lost
- Add real headings wherever one’s missing or too thin, so each page actually signals what it’s about
- Build out the services and projects pages properly — they’re the pages most likely to actually convert a visitor
Consultancy Client — Supply Chain & Logistics Sector
What I found
- Every page had two conflicting canonical tags firing at once, from the site’s theme and its SEO plugin both trying to do the same job — quietly confusing Google about which version of each page to trust
- 35 page titles ran too long and were being cut off in search results, including one core service page whose title didn’t even match what the page was actually about
- A dead “old” version of a live service page was still public and indexed, and another page was linking straight to it — showing visitors what looked like a discontinued service
- Over 30 articles on the site were essentially invisible to Google’s crawler, with nothing else on the site linking to them at all
- Two pages had meta descriptions so long Google was cutting off over 900 characters of them — on one, it looked like the entire article body had been pasted into the description field by mistake
- The business’s Google listing had no hours, no photos, no description, and a location pin sitting in the middle of the country rather than an actual address
What I recommended
- Fix the canonical tag conflict first — every other on-page signal depends on Google reading one clean instruction instead of two contradictory ones
- Rewrite the affected titles to fit within Google’s display limit, and correct the one that was actively describing the wrong service
- Remove the outdated page and fix the internal link sending visitors toward it
- Build real internal linking between the articles and the core service pages, so content stops sitting isolated from the rest of the site
- Trim the oversized descriptions down to a proper 120-155 character summary Google will actually show in full
- Claim and properly fill out the Google Business listing — real address, hours, photos, and a description that actually says what the business does
